Synthetic peptides and novel detergents are used to block the non-specific binding of proteins to nitrocellulose or to charged nylon membranes, thus reducing background levels. An indicator dye is provided to help monitor wash steps and is suitable for chemilluminescent reagents. Ten milliliters of MegaBloc 1 dilutes in water to make one liter of blocking solution.

MEGABLOC 3

(ELISA)

MegaBloc 3 is a special combination of synthetic peptides, buffers, and an indicator dye especially designed for blocking non-specific binding of proteins to ELISA plates. The low molecular weight peptides employed in MegaBloc 3 do not sterically hinder antigen to antibody recognition, which results in more sensitive assays-especially when using synthetic peptides as antigens. MegaBloc 3 allows for more reliable and reproducible ELISA testing due to the use of defined peptides and blocking agents as compared to using serum proteins or to non-fat dry milk. An indicator dye is provided to help monitor washing efficiencies and to indicate well use (can be used with chemilluminescent reagents). Ten milliliters of MegaBloc 3 makes up to 5 liters of blocking solution.

Poly-Silikote
(siliconizing agent)

Poly-Silikote is used to siliconize glass plates during polyacrylamide electrophoresis so the polyacrylamide gel will not stick to the plate. Currently, researchers use dimethyl-dichlorosilane dissolved in chloroform to coat a glass plate. These compounds are extremely toxic and carcinogenic. CEL's Poly-Silikote compound is a polymer concentrate that when diluted to 1:500 in ethanol or acetone, will produce an even non-stick coating. It is less toxic and much less expensive than using conventional coating techniques. A 5 ml. bottle of Poly-Silikote will produce up to 2.5 liters of coating solution.
